Almost 3 weeks ago Mia was baptized by her dad and confirmed by her grandpa. We loved having Nana and Papa and Auntie Whitney and Uncle Adam up for the weekend. Unfortunately Mia was sent home from school with a fever on Friday. She woke up still very ill on Saturday. Aaron gave her a Father's Blessing and she took a nap. She woke up two hours before her baptism bright eyed and bushy tailed. We were so relieved! She was happy and running around the church. Right after being baptized she was shivering, and then right after she was confirmed she was miserable. All she wanted to do was go home and get in bed. I was happy she made it through, but sad she missed all the follow up activities. She also barely got to interact with all our visitors, her great grandma even came. Anyway, you can tell in the pics that she started out strong, but ended up sick :( The most important thing though, is her decision to be baptized. She was so grateful that she felt well for three hours, and that her baptism fell within that time. We are so proud of you Mia!

Reliving Spring Break
We didn't go tropical for Spring Break. In fact it was quite opposite. We went to Yosemite and expected mild weather, but were not prepared at all for the blizzard that hit our last night there.
This was Yosemite Falls Saturday

This is Yosemite Falls Monday morning:

This is Sunday night, just beginning to snow. Notice the clear parking lot and that the snow was barely sticking to the ground.

This is what we woke up to Monday morning. We had to dig our cars out. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with this every winter!

Besides the surprise snow storm we had a really good time. We hiked, we biked, we walked, we splashed, we hunted for Easter eggs, ate a really good Easter brunch and even saw a bear! Time for photo overload, and this was narrowing it down.

It's still Mother's Day!
There's less than three hours left, but I had to let our mothers know how loved they are. They are wonderful examples and Aaron and I think they did a great job raising us. Happy Mother's Day to ALL women out there!
I also want to say how much I love being a mother. I sometimes get down on myself for being "just a mom," but then I am reminded about what an important and special job it truly is. Mother's are becoming just as scarce a resource as other basic needs. Society (US society in particular) has devalued the roles of mothers that it is making women feel ashamed to want to give up careers and be home with their children. We need to let our children know that being a mother is just as valuable a career as a CEO of a big company. I do not want my daughter to feel like she is wasting her life if she chooses motherhood over a job. Careers, even when fulfilling, are short sided. One day you will retire and that job will be over. You never retire from being a mother. Not this life or the next. And because I love being a mother that thought gives me great happiness and comfort.
