We have lots of blankets in this house. LOTS. There are a few that though that stand above the rest, they're the homemade ones. My mom has made all of the kids a crib quilt. I love each one (kids too).

No place like home?
Today was not a good day. I can't keep up with four kids. I'm on the verge of pulling a Marie Osmond and running off. Seriously, if I went missing you could start by looking here...

or here...

Or maybe I'll be somewhere inbetween the two like Topeka, Kansas. A)because I've never been there before and B)because nobody would think to look for me there.

Block party
A week ago had a real live, old fashioned block party on our street to celebrate Labor Day. It was fantastic! The street was closed to traffic, all the neighbors were out, the kids were running around together. For lunch there was a potluck in the middle of the street, the kids had a water fight that lasted an hour, we had a bounce house. It's amazing how one single block party can bring a street together. We've lived here three years and hadn't met the family two doors down until this shin dig. I highly recommend it. I hope it's something we can do every year.

10 years

Ten years ago I was pregnant with my first child. Ten years ago I lived in a two bedroom townhouse with my husband and my sister. A lot has changed in 10 years, but we will always remember what happened exactly 10 years ago today. There can never be enough thanks given to police and firefighters and servicemen/women who have always run into disasters when everyone else is running away. Thank you.

True blue?
Maybe you saw this post here about my kids eyes starting out blue? I said I'm skeptical when people tell me Eli's eyes are going to be blue because all my kids eyes have changed around one year. However, I've snapped a couple pictures recently that make me think #4 might actually have blue eyes?! What do you think? Should I stay skeptical?

School's in!
We are all back to school. Mia and Kai started last week. They are at the same elementary now. Kai is our sweet kindergartener and Mia is a big 4th grader. I love having two in one place!
Noah had his first day of Pre-k today and was an old pro. He didn't even flinch when I left. I then had to high tail it up to my preschool where it was also my first day. I had a good group of kids, and there was no crying! I'm a little worried now about my Mon/Wed. class because usually when one class has no crying the other class has plenty. We'll find out tomorrow. I should have gotten a picture of Eli at nana's since that's who he'll be spending his mornings with this school year. Here's to a great 11/12 school year!

This kid!
He kills me, he really does. He gives the funniest looks, he makes the funniest comments and he tops a lot of the funniest moments I've had in motherhood. He's a wealth of information as well. Some recent conversations:
Noah: Mom, why can't we go to Toys R Us?
Me: Because...
Noah: Because means nothing.
_____________
Kai: Could your body go to sleep for a really long time, like 100 days?
Me: Well--
Noah(interjects): That's called a coma Kai!
Some favorite Noah moments this summer:
Conserving the silverware at IHOP.
Taking styling tips from Goonies member Chunk.
Like any true pirate, falling asleep sword in hand.
