My three sons

I have a gripe (I realize almost all my blogs as of late are gripes so I will strive to make the next one up beat). I go out running errands with my three little boys while Mia is in school and get just about every look you can imagine. I get the "sympathy" look, which I translate to people feeling sorry for me that I have no girl in my bunch. I get the "amazed" look, which I translate to people wondering why I venture out with three small children at all regardless of gender. I get the "kindly" look, mostly from older parents and grandparents, which I translate to those people remembering when their kids were little. Then of course I get the "annoyed/angry/mean" looks which I can translate to a couple of things. Maybe they want me to get out of their way with my big ole cart, maybe my kids are being loud, or maybe they just think I've procreated too many times?! You know being near SF there really are a lot of people that think you should have strictly two or less. Whatever look I get doesn't bother me near as much as this comments does...
If you are in the grocery store, Target, mall, wherever, do not say to a woman with a lot of kids "LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE GOT YOUR HANDS FULL". Pardon my french, but no shit Sherlock --I've never actually said that as a comeback! First of all, telling a woman it looks like her hands are full is not some kind of compliment. You just make her feel like she can't handle what she's doing. Just tell her she has a beautiful family whether they're screaming and crying or perfectly behaved. And secondly, you will not be the first person to ever say that to her, so kindly refrain so she can hear it at least one time less than she would have otherwise. Oh, and someone just gave me a wonderful comeback because I never really knew what to say to a person when they would tell me "it looks like your hands are full" well it's better than having them empty (in my nicest tone)! I am stepping down from my soap box now.
Continuing with my three sons, would you like to guess which brother Eli looks like? Here are picture of Kai, Noah and Eli all at about two months of age.

'Round here

Well, still NOT a healthy household. For the past six weeks somebody within our family has been constantly sick (is it constantly or consistently?). Noah is the latest victim just as Kai and Eli got better. I want to scream! I really don't know what I'm going to do if someone picks it up AGAIN from Noah. The baby is two months old and he's been through two colds already. Mia and Kai have missed lots of school and we've spent a small fortune at the pharmacy.
Despite Kai and Eli being sick we made a quick trip down to southern California for Spring Break. Aaron had an extra night off work so we had to take advantage of the time. It was fun seeing everyone. We haven't seen our little cousin Luca since last August when he was just 3 months old, now he's walking all over the place!

When spring break was over everyone went back to school including me. I was off for 8weeks, but then I only have 8 weeks until summer vacation so not too bad. Plus I like my job. I don't want to jinx it, but Eli has been sleeping better too. I really hope he's found his groove. He's still tough to get to smile, but he'll do it every now and then.

As assurance to ourselves that we can go out with four kids, Aaron and I took the kids to a low key Renaissance Faire this weekend. They enjoyed seeing all the costumes and making their own swords not to mention it was a beautiful day. It was a nice break from the stress the day before.

Another 911 call and ambulance ride. Kai was feeling sick and it got progressively worse. He started screaming and crying about this stomach ache. This is not typical for him so I was worried. Aaron got home and saw how he was acting and wanted to call the advice nurse. Kai started sweating from the pain so then we just decided to take him to the ER. We were getting him in the car when Kai says to me "if I stop breathing will I die?" Not good. Instead of us taking him to the ER, I decide to call 911 in case he stops breathing on the way. The ambulance arrived, and the medics say his lungs are clear, but can tell he's in distress so they take him in the ambulance to the hospital. They are in the ER doing all kinds of tests for seven hours. Yeah, that's the kind of fun we have around here! After all the tests they don't find anything wrong plus Kai's pain has lessened significantly so we get to go home. Luckily it didn't return in the middle of the night or the next day. He just had a tender tummy and is now feeling great, but still eating less. Some days being a parent sucks, but you still wouldn't trade it for anything in this world.

Awesome adventure

So catching up from WAAAAAY back in January we had a wonderful family reunion in Orlando, FL. Aaron and I couldn't get the time off for the full week and we were only there for the weekend, so my parents took on the task of flying with and tending to our three kids during this big trip.
We started out by going to a nature preserve. The wildest animals we saw were our kids! It was a great way to start the vacation though, having everyone together at a slow pace.

Next we were off for the main event...The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
It was amazing. I was so happy to waddle my 8 month pregnant booty through the park.

And how cute is Dr. Suess"ville"?

After Aaron and I left the rest of gang went to the Magic Kingdom at Disneyworld. One of the highlights was Noah getting to meet Buzz Lightyear. They said he was so happy. I bet he was, I'm sorry I missed it.

A couple of side trips were dinner at Medieval Times and an air boat ride through gator swamps.

Their last hurrah in Florida was back to Disneyworld this time at the Animal Kingdom. They said the safari ride was great because all the animals were out.

I cannot say thank you enough to all my family members who helped look after my little ones on such a big trip. We'll definitely have to go back one day. Thanks to mom and dad for masterminding such a memorable family reunion.

The one and only...

Mia Shong is 9 today! I can't believe it was nine years ago that little bunny came into our lives. She relishes in her roles as only daughter and big sister. Her sunny, funny spirit makes our home a brighter place. We love you Mia!

Snow White and the 4 Dwarves

Can you match our kids to their Dwarf counterpart? Alright here goes...
Mia is Doc, always the leader keeping everyone in line.
Kai is Happy, smiling through just about everything.
Noah is Bashful, you wouldn't know he has a wild side when you first meet him.
Eli is Grumpy, nothing and no one satisfies him.

I'm not going to lie having a grumpy baby makes it hard to enjoy our last time through babyhood. It also makes it hard to get anything done. I really just want to enjoy this time with him, but I find myself wishing it away and looking forward to when he's walking and talking and keeping up with the rest of the crew. He STILL isn't smiling at us either! Eli will be 8 weeks on Thursday and only smiles in his sleep. We are all running out of ideas on how to make this little guy happy. Hopefully I'll be able to amend his dwarf name soon to Sleepy, I'd love a little Sleepy or Happy #2.
