What a mess!

2010 is definitely not starting out as a stellar year! So far:

My sister in the hospital with ruptured cyst.
My Grandpa (mom's dad) dies.
My dad in the hospital with internal bleeding-bike accident.
My Grandma (dad's mom) in the hospital with fractured elbow & shattered knee-a fall.
All three kids have been sick after a healthy December.

Yes, all of these things happened within the first 16 days of January! Definitely not our year so far.

Off to Arizona

It is time to bid a loving farewell to Pa. It helps knowing he is back with his beautiful dancing partner after nearly 9 years.

I also had to share this great video of Pa singing "Old Man River" at his 90th birthday a couple years ago.

Sweet Pa

He waited through winters, springs, summers, and autumns.
He waited through meals, church services, and red lights.
He waited whenever a loved one was expected at his house for a visit.
He waited as 26 great grandchildren were born into his family.
He waited through Christmases, Thanksgivings, and his own birthdays.
He waited patiently, humbly, and lovingly.
He waited to be with the girl of his dreams, and love of his life.
His waiting is over.

He touched our lives with his loving words and positive attitude.

Thank you for being such a wonderful father, grandpa, and great grandpa.
We love you Pa. July 1, 1917-January 11, 2010

A peek into 2010.

Am I the only one who can't live without an old fashioned wall calendar? I love walking into the makeshift calendar stores set up for the holidays and laughing at all the dog calendars, marveling at all the art calendars and drooling over all the places I'd love to visit in the destinations calendars. I love going back after Christmas to buy my now 50% off calendar, taking it home, peeling off the sticky plastic and going through all the months. I write down all the birthdays, holidays and appointments in my real, live, non computerized, calendar.
I realized we're gearing up for another big year as I finished dating my calendar this week and wanted to mention a few of the things we're looking forward to this year.
This is the calendar that will hang on our kitchen wall for 2010:

February: Noah turns 3 and we'll be celebrating Papa David's 60th birthday with a trip to Tahoe!
March: Aaron has his "big V" scheduled. If you don't know what a big V is just think permanent birth control (I'm serious about stopping at 3)! I turn 31-not really a big deal, but I'm adding everyone else's bdays.
April: Easter in Yosemite, can't wait for an egg hunt in the valley. Mia turns 8!
May: Mia gets baptized :) Our 3rd nephew(Sarah's baby) is due. Aaron turns 35!
June: Trip to SoCal to meet the newest family member. Trip to Lake Shasta with lots of family:)
July: Kai is a half decade old, turning the big 5!
August: Mia starts 3rd grade (how can we be that old)!
September: No more babies, eveyone's in school now! Noah starts pre-school, Kai starts pre-k. Aaron and I celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, hopefully with a trip to Hawaii, New York or Europe. We have to take advantage of our flight benefits while we have them!

That's 2010 so far. There's more plans to be made, but that's as far as I can see into the future. If anyone wants to plan a trip to San Francisco you have a place to stay and we'd love to add you to our calendar :)

A new year, a new decade.

Wow so much has happened this past year, 2009 was a very full year.
Aaron is home a little more, he still has two jobs, but his hours went from 85/week to 65/week. He gets a little more time in between both jobs which makes it possible for him to get a nap and eat dinner with the family. It also makes it possible for me to do errands without the kids.
I turned 30 and got to celebrate with a little trip to the big island of Hawaii. I am also teaching preschool part time for the second year. My mother in law is gracious enough to watch the boys, and they couldn't have a better babysitter.
Mia started 2nd grade and had a great year in soccer. She really loves it and wants to join a more competitive league, but Aaron and I want her to be a little older. She's also very proud of her art work that was chosen to be displayed in the San Mateo public library.
Kai turned 4 during the summer and wanted to celebrate at Chuck E. Cheese. He also started pre-k and was having a fabulous time. We had to take him out though because he really needs occupational therapy and we couldn't afford to keep him in both. He's going to do pre-k next year instead of starting kindergarten which we think will give him a great advantage in his education.
Noah has become an independent little guy. He likes doing things his way and on his own which is very different from his siblings. He does remain a snuggler which is so nice especially with him being our last. You will not find Noah empty handed very often he always has one of his "guys" in his hands, he even goes to sleep with something whether it be a flash light, a train or a Buzz Lightyear figure.
Also this past year we got to enjoy to family reunions the first in May when Rhett married Monica. The second was for Thanksgiving and for Sarah and Angelo's wedding the same weekend. Sarah and Angelo will be welcoming a little boy this May! Another nephew, Mia remains the only grandaughter!

As we enter this new decade I took a look back at 1910 and wrote down a few facts.
1910 was known as the "Ballroom Era".

It was the birth year of two great people, Gordon B. Hinckley and Mother Theresa.
It was also the death year of some very talented people, Mark Twain, Leo Tolstoy, and Henri Rousseau.

Car $850
